Along with primary care pediatrics, Hillcrest Hospital specializes in neonatology, pediatric hospital medicine and pediatric emergency care. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Hillcrest NICU, you will provide essential care to babies less than 32 weeks gestational age. Their clinical presentation can range anywhere from weighing less than 2,400 grams at birth to needing ventilation for respiratory support. This position requires compassion and empathy, as parents with babies in this condition are especially sensitive and concerned. Offering this kindness can make a lasting difference in the lives of both babies and their families every day.
**A caregiver in this position works nights, 6pm-6:30am, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
+ Implement and monitor patient care plans.
+ Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
+ Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.
+ Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments, and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
+ Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Associate's degree and graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
+ Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
+ Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA)
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certifications
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Neonatal/Pediatric experience
+ Critical Care experience
+ Bachelor's Degree

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
+ Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range
+ Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
+ Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
+ Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
