Job Details

The Registered Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy procedures to examine, diagnose, and treat patients with respiratory and pulmonary disorders. The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient condition, consults with physicians to determine appropriate treatment plans, and monitors patient progress following procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The Respiratory Therapist also documents all patient care activities and ensures compliance with quality of care standards and regulations of the department.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Shift: Day

Location: Multi-location Position (Clinics within Washington Township, Stratford, Cherry Hill)

Responsibilities:

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
2. Administers physician-prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen, respiratory medication, PFTs, ABGs, and all mechanical ventilation.
3. Performs evaluation procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations based upon department protocols to improve patient outcomes and facilitate discharge.
4. Monitors patients requiring mechanical ventilation, including clinical assessment, routine rounds, troubleshooting, weaning, airway care, and diagnostic testing to ensure safety and appropriate care.
5. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens for diagnosis. Measures lung capacity to identify impairments.
6. Provides diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analysis.
7. Communicates with healthcare team members to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
8. Ensures smooth operation of the PFT and ABG laboratory or performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Professional competency in Respiratory Care, consistent with NBRC credential.

Required Experience, Education, Certification(s), License(s):

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Associate's degree or 2-year degree required.

Preferred Experience, Education, Certification(s), License(s):

• ACLS and/or NALS preferred.
• Prior experience preferred.
