Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide direct patient care across respiratory therapy services in accordance with physician orders. You will consult with physicians on therapy effectiveness and serve as an advanced resource for care teams in respiratory support.

Requirements include graduation from a CoARC-approved program, current RCP license, and NBRC RRT credential. ACLS is preferred; PALS is required for ER staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CoARC approved Respiratory Care program.
• Must have a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• NBRC RRT credential required; PALS for ER if applicable.
• ACLS preferred.
• Physical demands include pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs and crouching/kneeling.
• Experience in critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care as ordered by physicians.
• Consults physicians on the effectiveness of therapy.
• Acts as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care.
• Performs duties as assigned.

Position Details

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
• Preferred Education: Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.
