Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our acute care team. This full-time, day-shift position features 12-hour shifts (6:00am–6:30pm) and a lead role during shifts when supervising staff is unavailable.

You will perform inhalation and oxygen therapies, run pulmonary tests, operate ventilators, respond to emergencies, and document patient progress while upholding rigorous safety standards.

Qualifications

• NBRC RRT certification or obtained within three months of hire
• State RCP license required
• BLS certification at hire, ACLS and PALS certifications at hire or within 60 days
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program preferred
• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
• Two years of acute care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications
• Conduct pulmonary function tests and ABG analysis
• Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and life-support equipment
• Participate in rapid response and airway management during emergencies
• Assess respiratory status and adjust treatment plans
• Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of respiratory equipment

Education

NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification

Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
