Job Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the respiratory therapist provides services as part of the healthcare team, supporting patient care across the continuum.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing therapeutic, rehabilitative, and diagnostic procedures for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary issues.
  2. Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other team members to develop and implement optimal care plans.
  3. Assessing patients, evaluating therapy effectiveness, and delegating activities appropriately.
  4. Instructing and evaluating employees and students in respiratory care procedures.
  5. May serve as in-charge therapist and preceptor as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program or equivalent education/experience.
  2. Registration (RRT) by the NBRC.
  3. BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  4. Licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan.
