Job Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the respiratory therapist provides services throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include performing therapeutic, rehabilitative, and diagnostic procedures for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary abnormalities. The therapist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement optimal care plans. They perform patient assessments, evaluate therapy effectiveness, and delegate activities as appropriate. The therapist also instructs and evaluates employees and students in respiratory care procedures and may serve as an in-charge therapist or preceptor.
