Summary

Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the supervision of a physician. Performs patient assessments and implements respiratory care plans. Executes various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures across hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
• Respond to emergencies (Code Blue and White).
• Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Deliver aerosolized medications.
• Manage ventilators, including setup and operation.
• Maintain airway support devices like BiPAP and CPAP.
• Administer oxygen and monitor therapeutic outcomes.
• Analyze chest films and blood gases.
• Perform EKG analysis and ensure accurate documentation.
• Clean and stock equipment and supplies.
• Participate in CAP and JC surveys.
• Lead shifts or serve as team leader as applicable.
• Advanced practice skills may include management of therapeutic gases, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assistance, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, polysomnography, and transport duties.

Requirements

• Licensure and/or certification as required.
• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
• RT or RCP license in the state of employment required.
• BLS certification required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by NBRC required.
