Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The role involves providing respiratory therapies and oxygen administration, performing ABG sampling, and delivering patient education as part of the care plan.

The ideal candidate is enrolled in a CoARC-approved program, registered as an RCA with the NCRCB, and holds BLS certification, with documented competency in job duties and adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program in good standing.
• Registered with the state Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA.
• Completed competency evaluations for each job duty.
• BLS certification required by policy.
• Additional facility-specific certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development over the life span and assesses data reflective of the patient’s status.
• Identifies patient requirements and ensures and documents age-specific needs are met per department policies; provides and assesses education for patient and family.
• Performs respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration.
• Suctions patients and obtains and runs ABG samples.

Job description

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.


• Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and ensures and documents that age specific needs are being met as described in the department policies and procedures. Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education.


• Performs respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration.


• Suctions patients and obtains and runs ABG samples.

Physical Requirements

Work requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Maybe exposed to hazardous work environment this includes contagious patients and biohazardous materials. Rapid coordination of eyes and hands to fingers. Sufficient noise and disruptions to cause distractions and stress. Hazardous working conditions in which individual is exposed to definite risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, chemicals, or body fluids.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Currently enrolled in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program approved by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and successful completion 1 year of such program required. Registered with the applicable state Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA required. Completed competency evaluations for each of the duties of the job required. BLS required per policy guidelines. Additional certifications per facility/policy standards.
