Respiratory Therapist – Permanent Position (Peoria, Illinois)

Full-time | Permanent (Not Travel)

About the Role

Seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join a collaborative acute-care team. This permanent position provides hands‑on care across all patient populations with an emphasis on adult and critical care. The RT will perform respiratory procedures in accordance with evidence‑based standards while supporting patients on general floors, intermediate care, ICU, and the ED.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care within the Illinois Respiratory Therapy Practice Act.
• Deliver treatments and therapies as ordered, including aerosolized medications, medical gas administration, airway clearance, and oxygen delivery.
• Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation (including advanced modes such as high‑frequency ventilation, inverse I:E, and specialty gases like Nitric Oxide, Heliox, and Nitrogen).
• Serve as the primary airway manager during Blue Alerts and respond to Rapid Response/emergent calls.
• Assess patients and recommend changes in therapy based on clinical response.
• Document all care per regulatory and TJC/Medicare standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, especially in ICU and intermediate care settings.
• Monitor equipment and supply levels for patient care areas.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current NBRC credentials (RRT required; new grads must pass TMC + CSE and have applied for IL licensure before starting).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Basic EMR documentation skills.
• Understanding that this is a drug‑free campus—all hires must pass a full panel drug screen.
• New grads considered; 1+ year of experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, push/pull equipment up to 35 lbs initial force.
• Ability to stand up to 4 hours at a time, bend/stoop, and assist with patient positioning.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to communicate clearly.
• Visual capability including color vision.
• Ability to review and verify documentation accurately.
