Summary

Administers all forms of respiratory care, both critical and general therapy, and manages respiratory and pulmonary care for designated patients. Provides assessment, support, treatment, and diagnostic tests as part of the healthcare team.

Job Duties

• Evaluate, manage, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.
• Perform mechanical ventilator management, Bi-pap, and respiratory monitoring.
• Set up, check equipment, and administer respiratory medications as ordered.
• Maintain respiratory equipment inventory.
• Provide respiratory therapy according to established standards and practices.
• Train staff, including physicians and students, on respiratory therapy issues.
• Perform emergency resuscitation and maintain airway management for critical patients.
• Conduct arterial blood gas studies and interpret results.
• Educate patients on sleep apnea, CPAP machines, and related equipment.
• Set up diagnostic nocturnal sleep studies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited RRT program.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to provide respiratory therapy methodologies.
• Operate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment.
• RRT certification and Pennsylvania state license within 1 year.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP certifications within specified timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited RRT program.
• One year of experience as a registered respiratory therapist.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs., frequent standing/walking, and activities specific to patient care roles.
