Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist II to provide advanced respiratory care in an academic health center. In this role, you will manage complex respiratory cases, perform assessments, deliver therapies, and optimize ventilator support for diverse patient populations.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, precept students and junior therapists, support quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to MUSC’s educational mission

Qualifications

• Current RRT credential required.
• State license in South Carolina required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
• NBRC credential or equivalent recognized by NBRC.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based respiratory care, including assessments, treatments, and ventilator management.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.
• Educate students, residents, and staff on respiratory therapy techniques and best practices.
• Participate in quality improvement, protocol development, and clinical standards.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR accurately.
• Support and precept junior therapists, contributing to their skill development.
• Engage in clinical research or academic initiatives aligned with MUSC’s mission.
• Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
