Job summary

Saint Joseph Mount Sterling, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an established cardiopulmonary care team at a 42-bed community hospital in Mount Sterling, KY. You’ll deliver breathing techniques, nebulizer therapies, ventilation support and oxygen therapy in routine and emergent settings.

You will assess patients, develop care plans, and collaborate with physicians to optimize outcomes, while maintaining calm under pressure and a strong sense of urgency.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved program of Respiratory Therapy.
  • KY Respiratory Care Practitioner license required upon hire.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification required upon hire.
  • CPR/BLS required upon hire.
  • ACLS required within 90 days.
  • NRP required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic respiratory care and plans delivery of respiratory therapy as directed.
  • Promotes a positive quality work environment in patient care.
  • Administers and monitors mechanical ventilation and physiological monitoring.
  • Assesses patient needs for therapy modality, frequency and duration.
  • Communicates pertinent evaluation data to the physician.
  • Suggests changes in therapy modes as appropriate.

  • Performs basic respiratory care and develops plans for the delivery of Respiratory Therapy as directed by physicians or protocols and implements in a timely manner.
  • Promotes a positive quality work environment in the provision of quality patient care.
  • In accordance with established policies, administers and monitors critical care procedures such as mechanical ventilation, physiological monitoring, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs assessment of the patient, determining needs related to therapy modality, frequency, and duration of the treatment regime ordered by the MD based on patient’s age, cognitive and physician abilities, and/or developmental needs.
  • Is responsible for the communication to the physician of pertinent patient evaluation data.
  • Makes recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy.

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: KY, upon hire and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days and
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 90 Days
