Job summary

St. Joseph Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an established cardiopulmonary care team in Brazos Valley.

You will deliver a wide range of therapies, from nebulizers to ventilator management, and participate in oxygen and external ventilation support for patients with breathing issues. You will apply assessment and critical thinking daily to develop care plans, respond to routine and emergent needs, and ensure precise documentation in the care system.

Qualifications

• Completion of respiratory care degree program.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner: TX.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• BLS/CPR certification is required at hire.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP credentials within specified time frames.

Responsibilities

• Administering therapy modalities including HHN, HHN/MDI, IPV, CPT, Pentamidine therapies.
• Administering medical gas therapy (oxygen, He/O2).
• Performing ventilation therapies and managing life support systems.
• Documenting patient care accurately in the department system.
• Contributing to pulmonary function testing and related diagnostics.
• Performing specialized procedures such as CPR and airway care.

You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

• Administering therapy modalities which include, but are not limited to, Hand held Nebulizer (HHN), HHN via metered dose inhaler (HHN/MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chest Physical Therapy (CPT), Pentamidine therapy. Medication administration may be included during these therapy modalities
• Administering medical gas therapy including oxygen and Helium-Oxygen Therapy (HeO2).
• Performing ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems. These therapies are comprised of non-invasive and invasive ventilation therapies, as well as transport of ventilator patients to diagnostic procedures
• Performs physiological monitoring and diagnostic testing including, ABG puncture, bronchoscopy assistance, pulmonary function testing, bedside PFT's, metabolic monitoring, apnea monitoring, transcutaneous monitoring, capnography, and pulse oximetry and sleep apnea assessment.
• Performs specialized procedures which including but are not limited to, CPR, bronchial lavage, transport, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, artificial and tracheostomy airway care, and body mechanics/ambulation. Permanent or temporary assignment may be made to the Pulmonary Function Lab to perform diagnostic procedures to identify and quantify dysfunction by spirometry, gas diffusion, and body plethysmography
• Documenting all patient care accurately and completely in the required departmental documentation system

• Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 - months upon hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 6 - months upon hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 6 - months upon hire

Pay Range

$30.10 - $44.77 /hour
