Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Augusta recruits a Registered Respiratory Therapist to support routine and critical care across our patient population.

You will perform assessments, administer therapies, and manage ventilation using advanced respiratory equipment, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BCLS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• RRT/RCP credential required.
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist credential required.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in respiratory therapy or related field.
• Active licensure as Respiratory Therapist in state of Georgia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments including breath sounds and airway patency.
• Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen, aerosols, and chest physiotherapy.
• Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation as needed.
• Monitor patient response and intervene as required.
• Assist with transport of ventilator-dependent patients.
• Respond to emergent situations ensuring airway integrity during resuscitation.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. You’ll have access to advanced respiratory technology, mentorship from experienced RT leaders, and the support of a dependable, collaborative team that will set you up for success and ongoing professional growth. What you will do in this role:

• You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
• You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
• You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree
