Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a Registered Radiology Technologist - PRN to join our diagnostic imaging team. The role involves preparing patients, positioning for exams, operating x-ray equipment, and producing high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure.

As a PRN caregiver, you will work varying days, evenings or nights on schedule 6:30pm–7:00am, with opportunities to specialize in imaging modalities and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered culture

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT R.T.(R) credentialed and in good standing.
• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
• BLS certification.
• Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
• Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
• Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Maintain documentation.
• Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
• Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients and process billing.

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine.

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying hours on days, evenings or nights.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.

• Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing

• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
