Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System's Akron General Medical Center in Akron, OH seeks a Radiology Technologist to join the diagnostic imaging team. You will operate x-ray equipment, ensure patient safety, position patients, and work in a fast-paced environment across trauma, ED, surgery and portable imaging.

Shifts include Evening/Night Rotation (6:30pm–7:00am or 10:30pm–7:00am). Eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500; ARRT registration, state licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school.
• Registered Radiographer (R) with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current Radiology state license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
• Position patients and ensure safety during exams.
• Configure equipment and select appropriate technical factors.
• Maintain equipment and report malfunctions.
• Assist in radiology area sanitation.
• Comply with Radiology Information System entry.
• Support Radiologic student program and clinical activities.
• Complete mandatory education and department competencies.

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine.

A caregiver in this position works evening/night rotation, 6 : 3 0 p m -7:00 a m or 10:30pm-7:00am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Adjust and control complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
• Prepare and position patients prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes.
• Calculate and select appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and number of kilovolts or milliamperes.
• Maintain working condition of all equipment and report any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area.
• Compl y with all Radiology information system entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
• Assist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect.
• Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school
• Registered Radiographer (R) with American Registry of Radiology Technologists
• Current Radiology state license
• Ba sic Life Support from American Heart Association

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
