Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonanceimagingand nuclear medicine.
APRNcaregiver in this positionworksvarying days and hours.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform general radiology exams, portableexamsand fluoroscopic procedures.
Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
Acquire, archive,transmitand print images via PACS.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
Educate patientsregardingprocedures,equipmentand exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Maintain documentation.
Addressequipmentmalfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
Assistwith scheduling procedures,monitoranddeterminepriority of patients and process billing.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsR.T.(R) (ARRT),in good standing
Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes
