Job summary

Carle Health in Urbana, IL is seeking a CT Technologist 1 - Rad CT to perform computerized axial tomography procedures, prepare and administer contrast, and ensure patient safety in accordance with Carle policies. You will operate state‑of‑the‑art CT scanners, verify orders, review patient histories, and document imaging results for Radiologists.

This PRN role requires availability for at least 3 shifts in a 6‑week cycle, including evenings and occasional weekend shifts, plus on‑call coverage

Qualifications

  • Certified CT technologist with ARRT CT registration.
  • BLS certification within 30 days.
  • Radiography ARRT registration and CNMT.

Responsibilities

  • Performs computerized axial tomography procedures and related exams per department protocols.
  • Administers IV and oral/rectal contrast as appropriate and monitors for adverse reactions.
  • Reviews orders, patient history, and supports radiologist interpretation; transfers images to PACS.
  • Maintains imaging equipment, safety practices, and cross-trains in related modalities as needed.

Schedule: PRN: | You should be a available a minimum of 3 shifts in a 6 week schedule period. | of those available shifts, 2 of those should be off shifts (working until 7p or available on a weekend)

Holiday Requirements: 1 holiday a year

On-Call Requirements: 1 call shift a month

Overview

The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material. Prepares and administers contrast material based on Carle policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Performs computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols. This includes performing multiplanar reformats and/or 3D rendered images independently. Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate. Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam. Administers IV contrast, and oral/rectal contrast when appropriate. Recognizes and responds to any adverse reactions or allergic reactions.Sceens the patient for possibility of pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing if applicable.
Ensures patient, visitor and environmental safety. Reports safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.
Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary. May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in his/her absence.
Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking. Assists other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity.
May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department to which licensers are held by the technologist/sonographer.
Complies with other job descriptions of cross-trained modalities also performed within the department.
Required secondary registries are not required for cross trained modalities at HRHC unless otherwise required by specific compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies.
Performs computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams as outlined in department protocols including performing multi-planar reformats and/or 3D rendered images independently. Reviews case with the radiologist when appropriate. Administers IV contrast syringes, and oral/rectal contrasts when appropriate and recognizes and responds to any adverse reactions or allergic reactions. Administers IV contrast material by means of existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and placing IV line. Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Takes steps to acquire additional information if needed from the patient, ordering provider and/or Radiologist. Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness. Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation. Utilizes the web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours. Responsible for maintaining imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area. Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Certifications: Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Education: Associate's Degree: Radiologic Technology; Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology, Work Experience:

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $35.5per hour - $61.06per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
