Job summary

You will oversee survey operations across the New York metropolitan area, mentor staff, ensure QA/QC, and drive project delivery while expanding client relationships and introducing new technologies.

Qualifications

• New York Professional Land Surveyor license preferred; New Jersey license a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive land surveying experience.
• Proven ability to lead survey teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, survey standards, and construction layout.
• Experience with multidisciplinary projects and client relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead survey efforts on complex public and private sector projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop survey staff and field crews.
• Establish and maintain QA/QC procedures across survey operations.
• Oversee the preparation of boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
• Review deed research, title documents, and boundary analyses prepared by the team.
• Resolve complex boundary and survey-related issues using sound professional judgment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, county, and state regulations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including developers, architects, engineers, municipalities, and public agencies.
• Support business development by preparing proposals, defining project scopes, and assisting with fee negotiations.
• Build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for additional work.
• Expand the survey practice through client growth, staff recruitment, and the implementation of new technologies and industry best practices.

• 15 years of progressive land surveying experience.
• Proven experience managing survey teams and leading complex projects.
• Strong understanding of boundary law, survey standards, and construction layout.
• Knowledge of municipal survey requirements, permitting processes, and applicable regulations.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or similar survey software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
• Experience working alongside engineering teams on multidisciplinary projects is preferred.
