Job summary

Harbor Health Services is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician per diem to support multiple pharmacies in the Boston and Cape Cod areas. You will work under pharmacist supervision to type, prepare and fill prescriptions, and assist with insurance processing.

Responsibilities include verifying patient information, maintaining confidentiality, assisting with training new technicians, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician licensure or trainee license required.
• 1-3 years pharmacy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OTC drugs and insurance plans helpful.

• Process prescription medications through various insurances and resolve errors.
• Count medications, fill prescriptions, and label products.

Salary Range: $19.22 To $28.83 Hourly

The minimum starting salary for this position is $19.50 hourly Harbor Health is always seeking Per Diem Technicians to cover shifts as needed in our Pharmacies located in the Boston and Cape Cod areas.

Our Health Center Pharmacy locations include:

• Daniel Driscoll Neponset Health Center, 398 Neponset Ave. Dorchester, MA
• Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, 250 Mt. Vernon Street, Dorchester, MA
• Harbor Community Health Center - Plymouth 10 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA
• Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis, 735 Attucks Lane Hyannis, MA

We have day, some evenings until 8:00 PM and Saturday, 8:00 AM to Noon shifts.

Role:

The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist and assists with typing, preparing and filling prescriptions for verification by the pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

• Accepts new prescriptions or refill requests from patients and evaluates information for completeness and accuracy.
• Successfully processes prescription medications through various insurances including the error resolution process.
• Counts prescription medication, fills prescriptions, types and attaches medication labels.
• Greets patients at the Point of Sale while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Adheres to State and Federal regulations pertaining to working in a pharmacy.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Performs on those functions as allowed by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy
• Works collaboratively with administration and clinical care teams to provide quality care for the patient
• Restocks shelves in the dispensing areas as stock replacement is received from Drug Wholesaler.
• Checks inventory for outdated medications.
• Prepares and coordinates prescription orders for shipment.
• Assists pharmacist in training new technicians and cross training.
• Makes recommendations to the pharmacist as to how methods and procedures can be improved.
• Answers telephone calls in a timely professional manner.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Pharmacy Technician Trainee license, Registered Pharmacy Technician License or National Pharmacy Certification, current Basic Life Support Certification required.
• 1-3 years pharmacy or related experience, preferably in outpatient clinic pharmacy services or retail pharmacy preferred.
• Must be flexible and be able to work different schedules to meet client and pharmacy needs.
• Must possess detailed knowledge of OTC drugs and laws governing OTC medications.
• Demonstrates competent working knowledge of insurance plans.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of the Pharmacy Technician Procedures.
• Able to work in fast-paced environment and troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications and customer service skills.
• Must be organized and be able to prioritize tasks and and detail oriented
• Computer literate with intermediate skills in Microsoft Office 365: Excel, Word and Outlook
• Bilingual a plus! (English and Vietnamese, Spanish or Portuguese) as dictated by health center need.
