Job summary
TCH Medical Center is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivering medications and related tasks for patients from 0 to adult. The role includes handling controlled substances, record-keeping, storage, and distribution as part of daily dispensing operations.
The candidate should have RPHT-TX registration or PHAR INT status, with CPHT certification preferred and at least 2 years of experience.
Qualifications
- RPHT-TX registration with State Board of Pharmacy is required or
- PHAR INT status acceptable
- CPHT certification preferred and may be required by some departments
- 2 years pharmacy technician experience preferred
- 40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by relevant boards preferred
Responsibilities
- Processes prescriptions/medication orders and prepares medication
- Ensures proper distribution/delivery of pharmaceutical and supply shipments
- Ensures doses are delivered within established time-frame standards
- Completes daily and monthly activity checklists including expired drug checks
- Checks all communication channels including e-mail and mailbox every shift
- Completes daily filing including medication orders and stop orders
- Maintains stock with Materials and Logistics
- Implements new formulations and updates master records and computer systems
- Performs weekly inspections of pharmacy areas and study drug logs
