Job summary

The University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. is seeking an Orthopaedic Technologist to assist physicians and nursing staff in patient care and treatment of orthopaedic patients, manage charts, and support patient flow.

Responsibilities include delegated casting, bracing, splinting, and clerical tasks; use of the electronic health record per SOP; CPR certification required; 3–5 years in an orthopaedic setting preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (COT) is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years orthopaedic technologist and medical office experience.

Job description

Responsible for assisting physicians and nursing staff with patient care and treatment of orthopaedic patients. Responsible for chart management and patient flow. Performs delegated medical tasks such as casting, bracing, and splinting. May perform clerical duties. Where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process; and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (COT) through the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT)
  • Demonstrated skill in venipuncture, wound care, and cast care
  • Three to five years orthopaedic technologist and medical office experience in an Orthopaedic environment
  • CPR certification is required

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
