Job description

Summary: Are you an accomplished professional in your field who wants to give back to your community? Joining the faculty at SJVC is a great way to make a real impact on the next generation. Faculty members are primarily responsible for the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Faculty members facilitate and ensure student learning and mastery of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes as defined in the curriculum and course syllabi. Faculty are supported and supervised by the Academic Dean, Program Director and/or Division Manager.

What We Offer: The targeted starting pay range for this position is between $114,000 - $145,600 per year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fulfills all duties enumerated within the Statement of Faculty Responsibilities.
  2. Reviews and adheres to the guidelines in the Faculty Handbook.
  3. Prepares and executes lesson plans for assigned courses.
  4. Prepares course syllabus and informs students of course requirements.
  5. Documents grades and other student interaction in Campus Nexus within 48 hours.
  6. Adheres to programmatic accrediting requirements.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Faculty supervise student conduct in the classroom, on the campus, and on field trips and school-related functions.

Education and/or Experience:

  • MSN (or) MSN/Ed. (MSN with min of 1yr teaching exp or MSN/Ed. without teaching exp and 1 approved BRN Specialty i.e. Med Surg, OB, Peds, Gero).
  • MSN(or) MSN/Ed (+) (MSN with min of 1yr teaching exp in pre-licensure RN Program (or) MSN/Ed. both with additional specialties: OB, Peds, Mental Health, Gero, ICU/Critical Care/ER).
  • Must possess an active, unencumbered Registered Nursing license issued by the state of California.
  • Master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes coursework in nursing, education, or administration.
  • Completion of at least one (1) year's experience teaching courses related to registered nursing.
  • Direct patient care experience within the last five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned.
