Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System seeks a clinically expert nurse within Clinical Specialty Programs who will serve as clinician, educator, and consultant for wound care. The role includes assessing patients with wound and ostomy concerns and coordinating follow-up care.

The nurse will educate patients, caregivers, and staff, and act as a liaison among nursing, medical, and pharmacy teams to advance wound care quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

• CWON certification must be completed within two years of hire/transfer date and enroll within ninety days of hire/transfer date.
• Two years of experience working with patients in wound/ostomy in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform wound/ostomy assessments and follow-up care.
• Educate patients, caregivers, and clinical staff on wound care.
• Act as consultant and liaison among nursing, medical staff, and pharmacy for wound care.
• Demonstrate self-directed expert practice with education and consultation skills.

Job Summary

Serves in a variety of roles including clinician, educator, and consultant. As a clinician, promotes specialty care either directly or indirectly to patients with wound skin concerns including initial and follow-up assessments/evaluations and ordering specific follow-up when indicated. Provides education directly to healthcare consumers and caregivers, clinical staff, and healthcare providers. Serves as a consultant and liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, pharmacy and patients regarding wound care. This nurse is a self-directed expert practitioner with strong education and consultant skills.

Required Qualifications

• Require Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) certification completion within two (2) years of hire/transfer date. Must be enrolled in certification program within ninety (90) days of hire/transfer date
• Require two (2) years of experience working with patient in Wound/Ostomy in a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer membership in a professional organization associated with wound care.

Mandatory Education

• BSN: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Required License and Certs

• BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
• FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License
