Job description

Responsible for nursing care of patients with potential or actual skin integrity issues and/or wounds. Participates in patient care as a care provider and teacher to ensure safe and therapeutically effective nursing care. Assists in maintaining the work area. Determines care of patient assigned. Interprets and implements doctors orders. Applies nursing principles and skills in care of patients. Must be able to work various hours. Will be required to work until daily schedule completed, if needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Systematically and continuously assesses patients condition
• Assures that clinical data is collected, documented, and communicated, and is able to determine appropriate nursing interventions
• Makes recommendations and obtains orders for medications and treatments requiring physician orders.
• Collaborates with medical staff to establish a treatment plan for patients with complex wounds.

Required:

• Graduate of approved school of professional nursing
• Must possess valid State of Michigan Nursing License
• Current Wound Care Certification or previous experience and eligibility to obtain Wound Care Certification within 18 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire
• 2 years’ experience as a med/surg or critical care staff nurse
