Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, the RN-Wound Care Specialist provides acute and rehabilitative care for patients with conditions of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Assists in developing and implementing training and care team development programs related to wound care assessment, management, and documentation. Conducts ongoing education for the team and partners with nurse educators to ensure competency. Leads the department's evidence-based wound care orientation program and serves as a clinician, collaborator, consultant, and educator. Adheres to ANA standards and supports the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice.

Essential Functions
  1. Assessment: Develops, maintains, and evaluates healthcare processes to support nursing practice and care delivery. Identifies nursing-sensitive indicators, collaborates across departments, and supports quality improvement initiatives.
  2. Diagnosis: Supports environment that empowers nurses in analysis and assessment, facilitates inter-professional collaboration, and participates in organizational committees.
  3. Outcomes Identification: Develops and evaluates systems that promote organizational outcomes.
  4. Plan: Facilitates planning for care delivery, promotes evidence-based practices, and ensures ethical treatment and resource utilization.
  5. Implementation: Supports care team participation, reviews literature on best practices, and develops strategic plans.
  6. Evaluation: Assesses progress towards safety and quality goals, promotes educational opportunities, and recommends process improvements.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years in direct patient care required
Licenses
  • BLS (AHA or Red Cross) required
  • RN license from DORA required
  • Wound Care Certification (WOCNCB) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance
  • Decision-making skills, research and collaboration abilities
  • Independent and team work skills, resourcefulness, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Epic documentation preferred
Shift

Regular (0.8 FTE)

Salary

$37.40 - $62.22 per hour
