Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN Job Summary

• Monday - Friday; Flexible Hours (Primarily Day Shift)
• Alternate hours or occasional weekend availability

Responsibilities:

• Perform professional supervision, guidance and direction to staff in both clinical and personnel issues on the Sub-Acute (Short Term Unit).
• Coordinate resident care in accordance with State DOH regulations.
• Provide support to resident/families in dealing with clinical issues and challenges.
• Ensure staff adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
• Assist in establishing daily operations of resident care on unit, including showers/baths, toileting, meal, medication administration, and activities.
• Communicate pertinent information to other members of the Interdisciplinary Team to assure resident/family needs are met.
• Perform daily rounds of all residents on the unit.
• Perform assessments on residents as required by the facility (Admission, Elopement, Pain, etc.).
• Develop and document plan of care for each resident on Resident Information Sheets.
• Document clinical observation and assessment on all assigned residents per regulations and report findings to the designated Nursing Supervisor.
• Prepare resident assignments for Certified Nursing Assistants, considering the needs of the patient and competency of personnel.
• Communicate ongoing resident, family and facility plan/concerns/information to staff.
• Organize, oversee and supervise assigned unit activities and staff assignments.
• Assist other staff members in completion of their duties and orient new nursing personnel as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

• Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or three (3) years' experience in long term care.
• Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related medical facility, with training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practice.
• Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents.
• Must utilize good judgment in emergency situations.
• Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
• Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families, and staff.
• Must be able to handle emergencies with calm and intelligent response.
• Must have computer literacy.
