Job summary

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse – Traveler for a 14-week temporary assignment. The role is days shift (7a–7p) in inpatient post‑op care; requires strong bedside RN experience in surgical/med‑surg settings and current Virginia RN licensure, ACLS/BLS.

Two or more years of recent inpatient surgical or med/surg nursing experience are required, along with EPIC documentation proficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of RECENT bedside RN experience in INPATIENT SURGICAL or MED/SURG units.
• ACLS and BLS certifications maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process.
• Perform assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Document care using EPIC and coordinate with care teams.

Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by a specific specialty.

Education

RN Degree - ADN, BSN or MSN

Certification / Licensure

Valid RN License to practice in Virginia

Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Experience

MUST have AT LEAST 2 yrs of RECENT bedside RN experience in INPATIENT SURGICAL, MED/SURG

EPIC documentation system experience required

BLS, NIHSS REQUIRED
