Job summary

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a 14-week temporary assignment with 12-hour night shifts (7 PM–7 AM). The role pays $75 per hour and requires TNCC, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and VA RN licensure eligibility with at least 2 years in a hospital ED.

This position emphasizes independent practice with a strong nursing process, adherence to standards, and collaboration within a dynamic ED team.

Qualifications

• Education: RN degree at least an Associate's, with BSN or diploma options.
• Current TNCC, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications required and license eligible to practice in VA.
• At least 2 years of recent hospital Emergency Department experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process with critical thinking and patient education.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in the ED setting.
• Maintain standards of professional performance and collaborate with the care team.

Requirements

Responsibilities

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
