Cooper Norcross Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Trauma/Surgical ICU in Camden, NJ. This role provides care to traumatically injured patients and complex surgical cases as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include graduation from an NLN-accredited nursing program, a valid NJ RN license, and BLS certification; ACLS/NALS/PALS may be required for certain specialties. The TSICU features 28 beds and a collaborative environment.

Short Description

The Registered RN is a professional caregiver, who as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. They supervise and provide care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, including the therapeutic use of self.

Overview

The Trauma/Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in caring for traumatically injured patients or those undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the Ross Trauma Admitting Area, or the operating room. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures, and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. Many patients cared for in the TSICU are poly-trauma patients, with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians, and attending trauma surgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapists and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the trauma patient’s care.

Experience Required

A minimum of one year or more of RN acute care experience in an inpatient setting is preferred

Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).

Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
