Job summary

Boston Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care/3W Intermediate Care Unit. The role demands delivering outstanding nursing care in a fast-paced environment and requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support postoperative and surgical patients.

You will manage patient records, participate in quality improvement, and ensure adherence to unit policies. A Massachusetts RN license and BLS are required, with ACLS in certain units and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN license or eligibility.
• At least 1 year of RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification; ACLS if required in unit.
• Degree in nursing: Diploma, ASN or BSN; BSN preferred.
• Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• May require additional clinical certifications per unit.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in Critical Care unit per patient needs.
• Communicate with care team, patients and families.
• Coordinate and delegate patient care activities.
• Update and manage patient records accurately.
• Interpret electronic health data and charts.
• Adhere to BMC nursing guidelines and policies.
• Support leadership in quality improvement projects.

ABOUT THE Critical Care/3W Intermediate Care Unit DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

BMC’s Surgical Step Down unit is a 38-bed unit providing care for intermediate level surgical patients. The patient population consists of post-operative and surgical specialty patients, including trauma, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, transplant patients and cardiothoracic surgery.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an RN in the Critical Care unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues

• Update and manage patient records

• Enter and interpret computerized data/information

• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization

• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

• Must have active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one.

• 1+ years of RN experience preferred

• Certification in basic life support (BLS)

• Advanced Cardiac Life support **(**ACLS) certification required in certain units

• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

• Basic computer proficiency

• Fluency in another language a plus

Compensation Range:

$38.05- $75.33

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
