Responsibilities

The Staff RN reports directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The RN is responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The RN coordinates care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, guides the OR Technician and other personnel, and maintains professional standards. The RN collaborates with other departments to ensure continuum of care, efficient patient flow, and proper unit maintenance. Responsibilities include adherence to regulations, standards, hospital policies, participation in performance improvement activities, and acting as a resource for staff.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance.
• Current PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or equivalent on-the-job training.
• CNOR Certification (AORN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
