Job summary

ReFocus Eye Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical RN (Pre/Post-Op) to join our Ophthalmology team in Waterbury, CT. This per diem role focuses on comprehensive pre-op care, post-operative monitoring, and precise documentation to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include admitting patients, evaluating needs after surgery, administering treatments, and maintaining sterile OR conditions. Must have a 4-year nursing degree, 2 years RN experience, and CT licensure.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• 2 years of RN work experience.
• Current RN license in the state of Connecticut.
• Understanding of operative procedures and post-operative care.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Pre-Op Care: Admit patients, conduct thorough assessments, and prepare them for surgery.
• Post-Operative Monitoring & Care: Receive patients from surgery, evaluate the needs, and provide attentive post-operative care.
• Accurate Patient Assessment & Documentation: Monitor and document patient status, ensuring clear and concise records.
• Treatment Administration & Order Fulfillment: Carry out prescribed treatments and physician orders with precision.
• Patient Education & Follow-Up: Provide clear post-operative instructions and conduct follow-up phone calls.
• OR Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date operating room logs.
• Sterile Environment Maintenance: monitor the sterile field.
• Surgical Team Support: Assist anesthesia, scrub, and medical personnel to ensure smooth operations (cataract, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastic, retina).
• Equipment & Supply Management: Prepare and check OR equipment, supplies, and medications.

Our established multi-specialty Ophthalmology group is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional pre and post-operative care. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and comfort, utilizing your expertise to monitor and respond to their needs throughout the surgical process.

Schedule: Per diem

• No Fridays, No nights, No weekends
• Minimum 2 shifts per month +
• 6:30am start time / days ends by 3:30pm

What You'll Bring/Requirements:

• 4-year degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• 2 years of RN work experience.
• Current RN license in the state of Connecticut.
• Understanding of operative procedures and post-operative care

Bonus Points:

• Previous experience in a surgical center.
• Comprehensive knowledge of pre-operative nursing care in an ambulatory surgery setting.
