Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the General/Surgical Unit. This full-time position offers a 12-hour day shift and 36 hours weekly, with a focus on bedside care and adherence to nursing standards of practice.

The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, administer medications, document care, and support patients and families throughout admission and discharge. Graduate nurses are welcomed and trained.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Graduate nurses welcome and training provided.

Responsibilities

• Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate for patients.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.

The Registered Nurse should possess the knowledge and skill of how-to safely apply the nursing process to assess, plan and evaluate the care of patients with various health conditions.

Unit Overview

This 30-bed unit provides care for high-acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
• Note, if the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain a within a specific time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
• Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $40.09 - $57.35. Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
