Job summary

Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Surgery unit. The RN-Surgery provides direct nursing care to surgical patients in an acute care setting, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care with the interdisciplinary team.

This role supports perioperative care across age groups, promotes patient safety, and delivers education throughout the perioperative period.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• BSN preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient‑centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy
• Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately
• Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family
• Coordinates and collaborates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
• Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post‑operative care
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients throughout the surgical experience

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within timeframe specified in facility policy)

Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred
