St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Perioperative RN to care for patients undergoing operative and invasive procedures.
You will be responsible for planning and directing patient care within the perioperative environment and for supervising the surgical team to ensure safe and effective outcomes. Responsibilities include on-call duties, weekend/night/holiday coverage as required, and collaboration with anesthesia, surgeons, and staff to maintain quality standards.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Monday through Friday 6:15a to 2:45p. Call required weekends, nights, and holidays.
Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The Perioperative RN is accountable for planning & directing the care of every patient undergoing operative & invasive procedures. The Perioperative RN directs & supervises the surgical team members.
Graduate from a NLN accredited school of nursing; current LA RN license; BLS required or obtained during orientation; ALS required within 6 months of hire; able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards. Current BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
One year Surgery RN experience required but minimum of two years’ Surgery RN experience preferred. Acute Care facility, surgery experience preferred. CNOR Certification preferred.
The Perioperative RN must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.
