This role provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, and implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per-shift basis and at the unit level. The role is responsible for supervising staff to whom appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support the CNO in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, staff competency, and resource management related to patient care.

The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective nursing care to all patients. The RN is responsible for coordinating and integrating patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established safety, risk management, QI, and infection control standards, aiming for optimal patient discharge care. The RN manages patient care planning within medical regimes, administers medications safely and timely, and fulfills all HICS responsibilities during emergencies, including knowing hospital emergency codes and adhering to policies.
