Job summary

A healthcare facility in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Registered Nurse - Surgery to join its perioperative team and provide high-quality patient care throughout the surgical process.

The RN will work with surgeons, surgical technologists, and an interdisciplinary team to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical services. This is a full-time day shift position with on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of OR RN scrub/circulating experience.
• Active RN license in Kansas (KS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgery.
• Assess patients pre-operatively and educate patients and families about procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy and medication administration.
• Collaborate with surgeons and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety.
• Document assessments and changes in patient status accurately.
• Participate in surgical safety time-outs and universal protocols.

Job description

A healthcare facility is seeking a Registered Nurse - Surgery to join its perioperative team and provide high-quality patient care throughout the surgical process. This position works collaboratively with surgeons, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical services.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care while supporting patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Assess patients prior to surgery and provide education to patients and families regarding procedures and the perioperative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Collaborate with surgeons, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe patient outcomes.
• Apply the nursing process, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills to assess and monitor patient conditions.
• Document patient care, assessments, and changes in patient status accurately.
• Participate in surgical safety processes, including briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and universal protocols according to hospital policies.
• Respond appropriately to patient care needs, emergencies, and changes in clinical condition.

Requirements

• 1+ years of recent OR RN Scrub/Circulating experience in the OR required.
• Acute care experience is required.
• Registered Nurse Diploma.
• (RN) Registered Nurse, State of KS License.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Schedule

Full-time, day shift with rotating weekends and on-call requirement.

Shifts are 8 or 10 hours with a 6:45 AM start time.
