Job summary

Evans Memorial Hospital Inc. seeks a Registered Nurse to provide and supervise direct and indirect patient care across adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced setting.

You will collaborate with physicians, perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer treatments, and coordinate admissions and discharges while ensuring confidentiality and infection control.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Current Georgia nursing license is required.
  • BCLS certification is required.
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire must be maintained.
  • PALS certification within 1 year of hire must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and supervises direct and indirect patient care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Communicates with physicians about changes in patient condition and diagnostic results.
  • Administers medications and treatments per organizational policies.
  • Utilizes nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Adheres to infection control practices and PPE requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows discharge planning procedures.

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current unencumbered license from Georgia Board of Nursing
Current BCLS certification
ACLS certification within 1 year of hire
PALS certification within 1 year of hire

Job description

Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of Department Director and Chief Nursing Officer, provides and supervises direct and indirect patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Communicates with physicians, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s condition including results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties with minimal supervision.Essential Position ResponsibilitiesThe essential position responsibilities are the basis for the 90 day and annual evaluation. This list is intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed and not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties required of personnel.Demonstrates support for the hospital mission/vision and commitment to our patients.Continually seeks ways to improve patient care as well as individual and department efficiency and effectiveness.Presents an accommodating and receptive manner to our residents and his/her customers demonstrating a willingness to do whatever is necessary to meet their needs.Is dependable in meeting assigned work schedule and completing responsibilities of role.Adherers to organizational policies and procedures.Seeks job related education, attends required training and 80% of appropriate programs.Utilizes the nursing process and physician’s orders to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing Standards and/or established policy and procedure.Demonstrates knowledge and initiation in the admission and discharge planning processes.Adheres to legal implications of patient care.Maintains patient confidentiality.Administers medication/treatments in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.Follows infection control practices including proper hand washing technique, standard precautions, isolation precautions and proper use of required PPE personal protective equipment.Performs independently, within department’s policies and procedures, referring universal problems to RN Manager.Accountable for following scheduled policies and adheres to posted work schedule.Arrives to work on time, dressed appropriately.Wears Identification Badge while on duty.Keeps Department Director informed.Minimal QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited school of nursingCurrent unencumbered license from Georgia Board of NursingCurrent BCLS certificationObtain ACLS certification within 1 year of hire and maintain current certification (If working in Emergency Department, Medical Surgical Unit, Specialty Care Unit or Surgery)Obtain PALS certification within 1 year of hire and maintain current certification (if working in Emergency Department)Experience: Experience preferred, but not necessary, may obtain on the job.Ability to proficiently perform all essential job responsibilitiesPhysical/Mental DemandsAbility to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk, and bend intermittently throughout the work day. Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the applicant to adequately fulfill the requirements of this position.Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.External and internal applicants who are/become disabled, must be able to perform the essential position responsibilities with unaided or with assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.Occupational Exposure to Blood borne PathogensCategory I – Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.Orientation PeriodUp to 90 days to perform proficiently all essential position responsibilities.
