Job Summary:

The Nursing Supervisor provides supervisory and clinical nursing oversight, including overall direction of nursing operations during an assigned shift. Responsibilities include making rounds to ensure proper level and quality of care, compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations, responding to emergencies, supervising nursing staff (orientation, training, performance, discipline), and implementing Arizona Management System (AMS) methods for continuous improvement. The role emphasizes Veteran/Member-centered care.

Job Duties:

• Supervise nursing staff assigned to shift.
• Complete performance appraisals timely.
• Counsel staff and recommend discipline as needed.
• Oversee admissions and discharges.
• Make rounds to ensure quality care.
• Follow up on Veteran/Member issues.
• Provide direct care as required.
• Perform complex nursing procedures as needed.
• Support and consult with nursing staff on clinical issues.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Manage staff assignments and reassignments for optimal coverage.
• Participate in hiring, orientation, training, and policy development.
• Assist with quality assurance and emergency responses.
• Manage supplies, equipment, and medications inventory.
• Engage in AMS processes and QAPI activities.
• Serve on committees, attend meetings, and complete projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of professional nursing in a skilled nursing environment.
• Geriatric nursing theories and practices.
• Resident care needs and community resources.
• Team nursing practices and treatment planning.
• Pharmacology and medication management.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Negative TB test or physician’s statement of TB clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance card.
• Arizona RN license.
• CPR certification.
