Job Description

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for ensuring quality nursing care. The RN manages patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members, including ancillary and support staff. The RN's role includes leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

The DMC RN:

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers
  • Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care
  • Provides and delegates patient care activities to team members
  • Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge
  • Reports directly to senior unit management and participates in shared decision-making
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a school of nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Michigan required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
