Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Registered Nurse for Stem Cell transplantation with day shifts (7a-7p) to provide comprehensive nursing care across the hematology/oncology continuum. You will coordinate with the care team, document care, and support onboarding for new staff, while upholding patient dignity and safety.

Required BSN or enrollment within 6 months, 1–3 years cellular therapy experience for Level I or 5 years for Level II, and active BLS/ACLS. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immunotherapy) for Level I RN, or 5 years for Level II RN.
• BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire; BSN completed within 3 years.
• Georgia Registered Nurse License or Compact State RN License.
• BLS certification required on hire; ACLS within 30 days; ongoing renewal every 2 years.
• Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider certificate required on hire or BMTCN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise Patient Care Technicians and healthcare team.

Directs the care of the patient through the nursing process and through collaboration with the patient, their family and other health care professionals. Provides leadership to non-licensed staff by setting an example of excellence.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work FT Days, 7a-7p.
• Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the care of patients across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by Patient Care Technicians and other members of the healthcare team.
• Adheres to the hospital and department infection control policies including but not limited to hand hygiene, asepsis, isolation practice, and employee health practice.
• Effectively communicates with peers to resolve conflict.
• Assists in the on-boarding of new employees.
• Protects the patient’s dignity, rights, and privacy.
• Assesses the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.
• Delegate tasks according to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
• Document nursing care, implants, and specimens accurately, completely, and legibly.
• Collaborate with other disciplines as applicable.
• Maintain required competencies.
• Pursue professional growth and keep current with technology.
• Completes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• Level I RN must have 1-3 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership. To qualify as a Level II RN must have 5 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership
• Education- BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date.
• Licensure-Georgia Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
• Certification- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years. See specific role for any additional requirements. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Stakeholders will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certificate is required upon hire. Exempt with proof of previous ONS equivalent course or Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certification
