Job summary

City of Hope in Georgia is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for cellular therapy and stem cell transplant patient care. The role involves direct patient care across the malignant hematology continuum, collaboration with the healthcare team, and adherence to infection control policies.

The successful candidate must hold a BSN (or be enrolled within 6 months) and possess BLS and ACLS certifications, plus ONS BMTCN or equivalent certification, with 1–3 years (Level I) or 5 years (Level II)

Qualifications

  • Level I RN must have 1-3 years of Cellular Therapy experience.
  • Level II RN must have 5 years of Cellular Therapy experience.
  • BSN required or enrolled within 6 months and completed within 3 years.
  • Georgia RN License or Compact State license.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; ACLS renewal every 2 years.
  • ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy or BMTCN certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care across malignant hematology and stem cell transplant.
  • Assist with special procedures and direct care by Patient Care Technicians and others.
  • Adhere to infection control policies including hand hygiene and asepsis.
  • Communicate effectively with peers to resolve conflict.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees.
  • Protect patient dignity, rights, and privacy.
  • Delegate tasks per Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Document nursing care, implants, and specimens accurately.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as applicable.
  • Maintain required competencies.
  • Pursue professional growth and stay current with technology.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

The successful candidate
  • Must be able to work FT Days, 7a-7p.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the care of patients across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by Patient Care Technicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Adheres to the hospital and department infection control policies including but not limited to hand hygiene, asepsis, isolation practice, and employee health practice.
  • Effectively communicates with peers to resolve conflict.
  • Assists in the on-boarding of new employees.
  • Protects the patient’s dignity, rights, and privacy.
  • Assesses the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.
  • Delegate tasks according to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
  • Document nursing care, implants, and specimens accurately, completely, and legibly.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as applicable.
  • Maintain required competencies.
  • Pursue professional growth and keep current with technology.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Level I RN must have 1-3 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership. To qualify as a Level II RN must have 5 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership
  • Education- BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date.
  • Licensure-Georgia Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
  • Certification- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years. See specific role for any additional requirements. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Stakeholders will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certificate is required upon hire. Exempt with proof of previous ONS equivalent course or Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certification
