The Western New York VA Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Shift Supervisor (Nights) to work on the Community Living Center Nursing Team at the Batavia Location.
The Registered Nurse supervisor demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to managing complex patient care through position responsibilities.
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Shift Supervisor delivers and coordinates safe, efficient, and effective patient care across all facility areas. The incumbent provides care and directs others in promoting and maintaining health and preventing illness based on the nursing process, which includes data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, and evaluation of responses to health problems. The primary commitment is to the patient, whether individual, family, group, or community, and the facility.
The incumbent manages and directs staff, allocates resources, and assumes authority during weekends, holidays, and after-hours in the absence of management. Responsibilities include rounding, consulting with providers, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team for ongoing patient care and emergency responses.

Note: Current VHA employees in the 0610 series performing these duties are considered qualified as of 1/29/2024.

Position requires visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and the ability to work under stress, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform patient transfers. Protective clothing and exposure to infectious materials may be necessary. Screening and medical clearance are required.
