In this position, you’ll deliver essential care, support critical health needs, and help keep the facility running safely and smoothly through skilled assessments, medication management, accurate documentation, and clear communication.This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt, on-site position.**Pay & Benefits*** Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 36: $85,363 to $119,496 ($41.04 to $57.45 per hour).* Advancement/professional development opportunities.**Work Location*** This position will work at the Anoka County Jail, located at 325 Jackson Street, Anoka, MN 55303.* Expected work hours: The Jail is staffed 24/7, we are looking to fill all shifts with a combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts.* Minimum of 4 shifts per month, including 1 weekend per month. **Job Duties and Responsibilities** *These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Registered Nurse, Correctional Health.** Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the psychological, physical, and mental health needs of inmates.* Perform assessments of inmates and correctional youth in settings such as intake/booking, sick call, chronic care, medical unit, and emergencies throughout the facility.* Review and assess prescribed medications brought in by inmates and correctional youth, coordinate and administer medication and treatment to inmates.* Arrange for additional health care, including appointments for dental, medical, psychological, laboratory and other treatment modes.* Implement nursing care and medical orders in a knowledgeable, safe, and responsible manner.* Maintain all medical records related to health and medical screening and medical treatment administered to inmates while incarcerated.* Train correctional officers and staff regarding medical procedures.* Promote and demonstrate effective communication skills.* Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required.**Qualifications and Requirements:****Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed*** Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.* In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.* Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.* Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation.**Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed*** Previous job-related experience in Correctional Health, or similar field.* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.**Physical Demands and Work Conditions*** Standard office environment, correctional and detention institutions, field offices, courtrooms, offender'/clients' homes, hospitals and schools, and various community settings depending on assignment.* Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, and sometimes hostile clients depending on assignment.* Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing.* Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers.
