Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive correctional health care at Anoka County Jail in Minnesota. The role covers intake, chronic care, emergencies, and ongoing treatment across a demanding 24/7 jail environment.

The RN will coordinate medications, train staff on procedures, and maintain accurate medical records while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and MN RN license.
• At least 2,080 hours of related clinical experience per year.
• Background check clearance required.
• Correctional health experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care addressing inmates' health needs across psychological, physical, and mental health areas.
• Perform intake/booking assessments, sick calls, chronic care, medical visits, and emergencies.
• Review, coordinate, and administer medications and treatments.
• Arrange additional healthcare services (dental, medical, psych, lab, and other appointments).
• Implement nursing care and medical orders safely and responsibly.
• Maintain medical records related to screening and treatment.
• Train correctional officers and staff on medical procedures.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, and patients.
• Provide care across all shifts in a 24/7 jail environment.

• Provide care across all shifts in a 24/7 jail environment
• Work at Anoka County Jail, 325 Jackson Street, Anoka, Minnesota

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis
• Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota
• Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation
• Previous correctional health or similar experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills preferred
• Minimum of 4 shifts per month, including 1 weekend per month
• Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required
• Ability to perform required physical activities, including lifting 0–25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to work in a correctional/detention environment with possible exposure to bodily fluids, infectious agents, chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, and other hazards
• Compliance with Sheriff's Office tattoo policy
