Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive correctional health services. The role includes direct and indirect nursing care for inmates, accurate medication administration, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate individualized care plans.

Responsibilities include intake assessments, chronic care visits, emergencies, and maintaining meticulous medical records, while upholding facility policies and ensuring safe operations.

Qualifications

• Assure direct and indirect nursing care for inmates.

• Perform intake/booking, sick calls, chronic care and emergency assessments.
• Safely implement medical orders and nursing care.
• Maintain medical records for screenings, treatments, and incarceration.

Job description

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care for inmates' psychological, physical, and mental health needs
• Coordinate and administer medication and treatment
• Consult with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate individual care plans
• Perform inmate assessments during intake/booking, sick call, chronic care, medical unit visits, and emergencies
• Implement nursing care and medical orders safely and responsibly
• Maintain medical records related to screening, treatment, and incarceration
• Provide effective communication
• Provide on-call coverage consistent with facility policies and standards
• Support safe and smooth facility operations through skilled assessments, medication management, documentation, and communication

Requirements

• Associate degree in health care or related discipline
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis
• Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota
• Valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use
• Successfully pass an extensive criminal background investigation
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred
• Previous Registered Nurse working experience preferred
• Previous correctional health or similar experience preferred
• Ability to perform required physical activities, including lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to work in correctional and detention institutions and potentially encounter uncooperative, angry, or hostile clients
• Compliance with Sheriff's Office tattoo policy
