A Brief Overview

This full-time benefitted position involves rotating shifts, including days and nights, at the Middleman Family Pavilion, King of Prussia Hospital.

This role supports the Adolescent/General Pediatrics unit.


A Clinical Nurse in the Seasonal Staffing Program performs nursing duties during peak periods, which typically span from September through May, with a quieter period from June through August, as detailed in the "Seasonal Staffing Benefited Program Guidelines." During high-volume times, additional staffing is required to meet operational needs, with shifts varying based on the program's guidelines.

The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to an expert, delivering patient-centered care aligned with the CHOP Nursing Practice Model, and caring for patients with complex needs with age-appropriate approaches. The role emphasizes family-centered care, adherence to professional and organizational standards, and scope of practice as defined by state Nurse Practice Acts.

What you will do

  • Deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally effective nursing care following the nursing process.
  • Assess patient data to develop and revise care plans collaboratively with patients and families.
  • Recognize clinical deterioration and utilize available resources, including the CAT team, when appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring continuity and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Document care and outcomes accurately, following hospital standards and policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, promoting safety and advocacy.
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development, including ongoing education, evidence-based practice, and leadership activities.

Education Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma in Nursing - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year RN experience - Required
  • Experience in pediatrics or relevant specialty - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with computers and clinical technology, including electronic health records and decision support tools.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage clinical information effectively and maintain confidentiality.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, or eligible for licensure upon hire.
  • CPR certification through an approved organization (e.g., AHA, Red Cross).
