Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide 1:1 care for a student within a Bensenville classroom. This school-based RN will support medical needs during the school day, including transport, with a tracheostomy, ventilator and G-tube as described.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an active RN license in Illinois, plus ability to coordinate with teachers, parents and external agencies.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (School Based) - Bensenville, IL

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is looking to hire a Registered Nurse. In this role the RN will provide 1:1 support to an assigned student within a classroom setting. The student requires 1:1 nursing care when on school transportation and during his school day (approx 7:40-3:40). Student has a tracheostomy for airway management and is ventilator and oxygen dependent. He has a G-tube for nutrition management. Responsibilities include assisting with medical needs such as tube feeding, oxygen, and toileting. When you're not providing direct student care. Follow a standard school-day schedule, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. RN and TA RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide basic care for students when they are injured ill, and manage chronic conditions
• Oversee the school's medication administration program
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as hygiene and proper nutrition
• Work with school staff to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the school community
• Support the classroom teacher with daily activities
• Assist students with assignments, managing classroom materials, reinforcing instructions

REGISTERED NURSE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
• Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred
• Must pass background check and any required school district clearances
• Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system
