Job summary

Endeavor Health's Evanston Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse for the SANE Program on a per-diem basis. The RN will perform forensic exams, provide compassionate care to adult/adolescent survivors, and work with ED physicians, survivor advocates, law enforcement, and attorneys.

Requires Illinois RN licensure and AA SANE training; BSN preferred. Position demands on-call hours with 16 hours minimum every six weeks; on-site in Evanston ED.

Qualifications

• Forensic nursing experience.
• RN licensure in Illinois required or in process.
• BSN preferred or higher.
• AA SANE certification or board-approved equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs SANE duties with forensic collection and survivor care.
• Attends meetings to ensure compliance with forensic practice standards.
• Collaborates with ED, Violence Prevention, and law enforcement for cases.
• Attends courtroom proceedings related to sexual assault cases.

Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Registered Nurse-SANE Program-Per-Diem

Position Highlights:

• Position: RN SANE Program
• Location: Evanston Hospital, Emergency Department
• Hours: must work a minimum of 16 hours of available on-call per six-week schedule.

A Brief Overview:

• The SANE cares for sexual assault Adult/Adolescent survivors while independently performing the medical forensic exams, head to toe nursing assessments, detailed anogenital examination, forensic specimen collection with supportive documentation, and forensic photographic documentation. The SANE must provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department or hospitalized on an inpatient unit. They will work closely with Emergency Room Physicians, survivor advocates, law enforcement, criminal justice officials and civil attorneys.

What you will do:

• Performs duties of SANE with knowledge of forensic collection, STIs, medication and vicarious trauma towards the survivor.
• Attends SANE meetings for peer/chart review and information dissemination to ensure compliance and standards according to the Professional Forensic Scopes and Standard Practices, SASETA, and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
• Works collaboratively with the Swedish Hospital Emergency Department, Violence Prevention Program, Illinois State and Chicago Police Departments, Resilience, and the Illinois SANE Coordinator.
• Attends courtroom proceedings related to Swedish Hospital sexual assault cases.

What you will need:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Successful completion and certification of AA SANE training through the Office of the Illinois Attorney General or certification is approved by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General SANE Coordinator.
• Prior experience in forensic nursing preferred.
• Pass computer literacy for Epic or attend training after hire.
